Is alcohol allowed? 

No, alcohol is strictly forbidden in the building and on the lawn due to our lease with the city.

What kinds of proposals do you accept through your general submission form?  

We're interested in events or programs that fit our mission of providing unique and engaging experiences. In most cases we would like to see some track record of prior programming, artistic practice, or other background experience for what you are proposing.

What kinds of proposals do you NOT accept through your general submission form? 

  • Exhibition proposals, music booking requests, film screenings (see specific policies below)

  • Anything that is primarily commercial-based, or a promotion for a business, product, or private interest. We can give private event quotes for such events in certain situations.

  • Events with complicated staging, performances, or other factors that might lead to artwork in the space being damaged or compromised.

  • Events that require use of our walls for hanging or displaying anything.

Can I submit a proposal for art exhibition? 

Our exhibitions for each calendar year are based on an open call for submissions that is announced the fall prior. We have rotating panel who reviews the submissions.

Can my band or musical project play a concert? 

Our Comfort Music series happens every Thursday, and is curated by our music programmers. If you are a touring musician trying to book a show on a date that is not a Thursday, please do not email us. Otherwise, Please fill out the submission form here for music submissions

Can I submit a proposal for a film screening? 

To propose a film or a screening program, please fill out this form.

Is a cover charge allowed for events? 

No, all events at Comfort Station are free and open to the public. We encourage donations from the audience, but please keep in mind that we will not turn anyone away for not donating/paying. Depending on what kind of event you propose, you will be free to either keep all donations that come in the donation box during your event, or donate a portion to Comfort Station.

Does it cost anything to hold an event at Comfort Station?  

If it is a free community event and not a private event there is no cost for holding an event. If you require more than one hour for set up prior to the event, we may need to charge $30/hour to secure a staffer to make the space available to you.

Does Comfort Station provide a budget or honoraria for events?  

We have budget lines to provide funds and honoraria for artists within our in-house programs (Exhibitions, Comfort Music, Comfort Film, Soapbox, etc), but we are not able to guarantee funds and honoraria for events submitted through our general form.

Does Comfort Station do Private Events? 

We rarely do private events due to our mission as a public space, but if you are interested in reserving the space for a private event of any kind (wedding, private concert, book release, etc) please contact jordan@comfortstationlogansquare.org for rates, availability and policies. 

What is the capacity of Comfort Station?  

About 45 people can fit comfortably. About 60 people can fit uncomfortably. We have seating for 35.

Do you know of another local space for meetings or programs? 

Yes, the Logan Square Public Library has a meeting room that is available for booking: http://chipl.libcal.com/booking/logansquare.

For certain types of events, we also recommend reaching out to Elastic Arts or Hairpin Arts Center.
