This final screening in our series explores the importance and effect of television culture and gender on the video art practices of several Latina artists. Through this screening we will discuss works by Cuban and Mexican video artists Carmelita Tropicana, Coco Fusco and Ximena Cuevas as they grapple with representation and gender roles in their, at times severe, campy and hilarious takes on ubiquitous telenovela and T.V. commercial forms. Event sponsored by Video Data Bank.
