POWER project: Udita Upadhyaya: Of Rest And Repair

This participatory workshop tends to the tiniest tingles. It brings us together in our longing for comfort and solace. It hopes to gift moments of generosity to the self, to friends, to collaborators, to the audience, and to the space itself.

Udita Upadhyaya is an interdisciplinary artist who engages in the economy of repair. She wonders which bodies have access to literacy? Which to expression? When? And Where? Upadhyaya attempts to reconcile with a cultural fabric where she finds herself in fluctuating positions of power and privilege. She seeks, collects, and stacks stories that reflect upon individual and collective rebellions and resiliencies. Her work spans live art, devised theatre, performative photographs, sculpture, installation, video, writing, text, and fiber arts. Most recently, Upadhyaya has performed and exhibited work at the, Villa Teresa Decorative Arts Museum, Links Hall, Weinberg/Newton Gallery, and she recently a solo show, nevernotmusic, at Roman Susan Gallery, Chicago. Upadhyaya lives and works between Chicago and Mumbai.
