Female Gaze, Death & Queerness Screening

From the tragic suicide of famed “spit-fire” Lupe Velez the Mexican-born stage and screen actress, comedian, singer and dancer best known for her work in vaudeville and Hollywood come inspiration and reverie by Mexican video performance artist Ximena Cuevas and Chicana video artist Rita Gonzalez. In this screening and discussion we will also investigate duel reflections on death and spirituality from Chicana video artist Osa Hidalgo-de la Riva.
