Comfort Music: Zacbe Pichardo + Jacob Wick

Homeroom is proud to present Comfort Music on Thursdays in May at Comfort Station where we will pair artists and groups from the city’s (and the world’s) jazz and improvised scene with song-based performers in order to give audiences an opportunity to experience the intimate possibilities to be found in both sound and songform.

Zacbe Pichardo is a Grammy-nominated composer and performer who is well-known for his work with Sones de Mexico, the long-running performing ensemble dedicated to preserving and presenting music in the Mexican Son tradition. For this installment, Zacbe will treat the audience at Comfort Station to a solo harp concert

Jacob Wick is a trumpet player and improviser. His recent work for solo trumpet has sought to privilege the perspective of ambient non-human actors - air ducts, airplanes, birds, cement - over his own. His work can be simultaneously challenging, meditative, and invigorating.
