Homeroom is proud to present Comfort Music on Thursdays in May at Comfort Station where we will pair artists and groups from the city’s (and the world’s) jazz and improvised scene with song-based performers in order to give audiences an opportunity to experience the intimate possibilities to be found in both sound and songform.

As Half Gringa, Izzy Olive writes and sings songs about multicultural identity, domestic disputes, and genuine hope set to rowdy rural rock music. Her debut album Gruñona came out last year to much acclaim.

Mai Sugimoto and Katie Ernst are two of the busiest and most versatile musicians in Chicago’s jazz and improvised scene. Here they will play a rare duo set where their well-honed melodic sensibilities will almost certainly be on display.
