Comfort Film Presents:

The Akankshow TV movie

Inspired by 100% real events, The Akankshow is a comedy webseries that follows 25-year-old Akanksha—still new to the Real World, still bitter about having grown up in the third world.

Born in India and bred in Saudi Arabia, Akanksha has wanted nothing more all her life than to follow in the footsteps of her idols—a bunch of white men she grew up watching on SNL—and to eventually become American. Following college in small-town Indiana, she moves to Chicago to study at The Second City, and here, moves in with a performance artist who runs a marijuana bakery out of their apartment, befriends a group of weirdos who spend their Friday nights Tindering and wondering why she wouldn't want to move to Belgium or Iceland instead, and works shitty customer service jobs everyone assumes she should be good at because she's Indian. She falls in love, makes mistakes, and never remembers to learn from them, as she tries to reconcile who she is with who she's always wanted to be.

In the movie, we follow Akanksha on her first date, a group hang with her friends that quickly devolves into something bigger than any of them were ever expecting, and finds herself in a fantasy so reminiscent of her history that she isn't even sure she's comfortable with it. All she's ever wanted to be is American, and she's figuring out that maybe it's not all that cracked up to be!
