Comfort Film presents ULISES GUZMÁN, CINEICONOCLASTA

  • Comfort Station 2579 North Milwaukee Avenue Chicago, IL, 60647 United States (map)

Comfort Film is excited to present Day 3 of the cycle

ULISES GUZMÁN,
CINE-ICONOCLASTA

Ulises Guzmán is a film director, producer, screenwriter, professor and programmer. Finding his niche in genre film, he is one of the lead exponents from Mexico in horror and fantasy. His films open a door onto dark and magical worlds, be it fiction, documentary or animation.

Guzmán will introduce the film, México Bárbaro (2014), an anthology of eight short stories based on Mexican folklore and legends. 7 Veces 7 (7 Times 7), Guzman's episode about witchcraft and revenge, was shot by a brave crew thay climb to the top of the Nevado of Toluca volcano.

Plot.
Eight Mexican directors unite to bring tales of the most brutally terrifying Mexican traditions and legends to vividly shocking life. MÉXICO BÁRBARO presents haunting stories that have been woven into the fabric of a nation's culture, some passed down through the centuries and some new, but all equally frightening. Stories of boogeymen, trolls, ghosts, monsters, Aztec sacrifices, and of course the Day of the Dead all come together in urban and rural settings to create an anthology that is as original as it is familiar and as important as it is horrifying.
