Comfort Station is proud to present the lecture "Read-In: Radical Libraries and Reading as Protest."
As public libraries and schools lose funding, what can be done to preserve access to books? Students at the historic DuSable High School recently led a successful protest to reinstate their librarian after her position had been eliminated due to CPS budget cuts. Hear their success story and learn more about the work being done to preserve libraries in alternative spaces in Chicago and elsewhere.
This talk will be presented by Kate Hadley Toftness, Archival Collections and Public Engagement Manager for Rebuild Foundation.
Comfort Society is a weekly lecture series held Sundays at 1 during the Logan Square Farmer's Market. Lecture topics range from the useful to the unexpected. Sponsored by Intelligentsia Coffee.
