Comfort Film Presents: Home Movies, Reconsidered

  • Comfort Station 2579 North Milwaukee Avenue Chicago, IL, 60647 United States (map)

In conjunction with the Vernacular Photography Festival at Comfort Station in June, Comfort Film presents:

Home Movies, Reconsidered

This program of experimental films and videos looks at the ways in which Home Movies can be recontextualized to find or create new meanings. Typically made to preserve a memory, Home Movies can be dull to those who are too far removed from the subjects or creator. The works in this program parse, abstract, destroy, and recombine Home Movies as their source material to get at our root understandings of memory and history, and in so doing make the once deeply personal images more widely accessible.

Featuring work by Michael Robinson, Jesse McLean, Evan Meaney, Stephanie Barber, Brandon Walley, and Derek Weber.

Total runtime ~ 1 hr

Curated by Michael Wawzenek.

Media: Digital Projection
