Comfort Music: Alicia Walter (Oshwa). Christy & Emily

DOORS AT 7; MUSIC AT 7:30
$5 SUGGESTED DONATION
NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES PERMITTED

Alicia Walter is a Chicago-based vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, most active in the art pop foursome, Oshwa. Keen on big melodies and impressionistic harmonies with an enchanting, yet brooding, flavor, Alicia puts a tastefully surprising twist on pop sensibility. www.oshwasounds.net.

Brooklyn-based experimental folk-pop duo Christy & Emily is comprised of Christy Edwards, a self-taught indie-rock guitarist and Emily Manzo, a classically trained pianist. Over many years Christy & Emily have forged a songwriting style that melds haunting vocal harmonies with jagged guitar swells and vintage electric piano/organ dreaminess. Since their 2007 debut on Social Registry, they have toured in the US and extensively in Europe. Their second record was made in Emily’s basement apartment and found itself on Big Print, a label run by Robert Lloyd, lead singer for UK post punk favorites, The
Nightingales. In 2009 and 2011 they recorded two albums with Hans Joachim Irmler of Faust, released on Klangbad (DE). They are continuing with a collection of 7” records, the first shared with Talk Normal, the second was released in 2014. They will release a full-length record this November on Big Print.
