A Veil may be employed as a way of obscuring, adorning, constricting, confusing, protecting, intimidating or attracting. Any one of these options may be reflected in equal and opposite measure on the Veiled and they who administer the Veil. The Veil may also be observed as an autonomous entity or presence. Similarly, its presence may never be seen at all, and may remain in the territory of that which is beyond seeing. The description of such a territory, too, traces the boundaries of a Veil. Through his charcoal drawings, films and sculptural installations, Chris Hefner indicates a selection of Veils.
