Something New (1920) our first Silent Western Film.

Our next installment of Silent Films and Loud Music will feature our first Western we ever shown since the series started. Something New (1920) stars Nell Shipman a Canadian-born actress, writer, producer and animal trainer she was best known for writing and acting in several James Oliver Curwood stories and for her portrayals of strong, adventurous women, with many of her productions being filmed in Canada. She is also known for the first woman in film history to have a full frontal nude scene. It was in Back to God's Country (1919), which coincidentally (or perhaps because of the scene) became the most financially successful silent film ever made in Canada. The movie will have a live score by local rock band Terroir /terˈwär/, Wednesday night at 8:30pm out on the Comfort Station Logan Square lawn weather permitting.
