Released and Abandoned: Forgotten Oddities of the Home Video Era 2016 film lineup.

We are happy to announce that we are going to continue our series Released and Abandoned: Forgotten Oddities of the Home Video Era in 2016. A monthly series curated by Paul Freitag-Fey from the Daily Grindhouse featuring odd and lost/forgotten movies from the home video era, every other last Wednesday of the month. Here is the 2016 lineup.

April 27 8pm

Strangers in Paradise (1984) 

Media: Digital Media Projection

Plot: Mesmerist Jonathan Sage escapes Nazi Germany via a cryogenic tube. In the 1980s, a group of Fascist Americans thaw him out, hoping to use him as a way to rid their community of homosexuals, free-thinkers, and other "radicals." The story is interspersed with many rock dance numbers.

August 31 8pm

(It's a) Complex World (1992)

Plot: Terrorists, political conspiracy, drugs and bad music. Just another night at the Heartbreak hotel.

Plot: A deranged guy in a mask kills people with an axe.

Plot: Local teenagers are holding a Halloween party at a supposedly "haunted" old mill, but find out that one of the partygoers who is dressed as an alien is actually a real alien.

Plot: Family vacationing in the mountains is terrorized by local wackos.

The House with the Yellow Carpet (1983)

Plot: Franca and her husband Antonio decide to sell a yellow rug which was a gift of Franca's stepfather. One day, while Antonio is out, a strange man rings saying he wishes to buy the rug. But the man's visit becames a nightmare. He kidnaps Franca and says he killed his wife on that same yellow rug. Then Franca kills the man. But is that really all that has happened? And who was that strange man?

Plot: After the nuclear annihilation of the planet, The last member of a small society of survivors finds himself trapped in an underground control room, where he recounts the history of his world through musical numbers.
